The Hagane-shi takes a break as they get ready for their second act.
This is the news we’ve been waiting for…A new Fullmetal Alchemist series has been officially confirmed! Anime News Network reported that a wrap-around on the latest volume of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga (Volume 20 in Japan) noted that a new series is in production. This announcement came a month after Studio BONES denied that a second season was in the works at the time when information of another Darker than BLACK series was leaked. It’s about time!

September is almost here! Not to mention that school’s back in session, and summer is coming to an end. That means it’s time for the new fall anime lineup!
There’s lots of anime to choose from, from the Lucky Star OVA to Xam’d: Lost Memories (Bounen no Xamdou). Plus, the second season of Gundam 00 is a must see..although I need to start catching up on the first season.
What’s on your watch list? ![]()

The Gurren gang on *real* US television. Sorry, Adult Swim
The biggest anime of 2007 aired for the first time on US television, on the SciFi Channel Monday night. Thanks to my trusty DVR, I witnessed the first episode of Gurren Lagann. I’ve contemplated watching this show for a while, and the fact the my friends have been telling me I should watch this show. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the fansubs; maybe it’s because it was licensed almost immediately thanks to growing interest in the community.

The Bebop Crew
The live action anime wave continues as Fox announced a live version of Cowboy Bebop is in the works. This is the second live action adaption of a popular anime series, as Fox is currently working on a Dragonball movie set for a March 2009 release. Erwin Stoff, producer of The Matrix will be working on the film.
Let’s see…Speed Racer, Dragonball, Astro Boy, Burst Angel, and now Cowboy Bebop are now real life counterparts. What’s next? I could be missing a few others, but those that are missing could eventually make the news.

Baccano!: Cowboy Bebop + Fullmetal Alchemist + Godfather = Another Hit?
Yesterday, FUNimation acquired the rights to Baccano!, an anime based on a light novel that takes place in the early 1930s. FUNimation has the first episode (subtitled) available for streaming on the Baccano! website–with a password based on the train in the first episode.
The first episode is pretty good, and it has some potential to be a huge success, especially if it airs on Adult Swim (if AS will keep anime on the air by the time this gets dubbed). It has too many characters, but it will even out to the viewer with later episodes.
