The final installment of Worst. Server. Ever. is out, and I am going to talk about two servers in the World of Warcraft that left a bad taste in my mouth. Now that this series is over, I have some final thoughts noted at the end of this post, and maybe why you would have a better chance on one of these realms than I did.

Realm: Aerie Peak
Aerie Peak is the “Worst. Realm. Ever.” because of the high population of morons–er…”unskilled” players. I tried to give this server a chance, but I couldn’t take it anymore–and this was the same day I registered my account for the first time. Things went downhill from the starting area, Northshire Abbey, right after I finished watching the Human prologue…
1) After getting to level 3 and ran to the nearest Quest NPC, I was slapped at by a player. It was probably because I ran in-front of him. It’s strange for him to do that–because I could pass right through him. It happens to everyone all the time…
2) I was invited into a party from a newbie player. I greeted him and he greeted back. I asked him what he wanted to do, because I didn’t know–obviously I was new to WoW. He could have said the same, but he basically stayed in the same area. After checking out the Inn in Goldshire, I went into the field to fight mobs. A minute later, he left the party. Nothing stupid there. It was just very weird.
3) The Elwynn Forest General Chat. It’s just like The Barrens chat–but worse. In fact, it makes The Barrens chat look educational. The player who slapped me earlier also made an appearance in General Chat by bragging about his Level 60 Mage when someone reported a Horde player taking on Hogger. This guy thinks he owns the server, so I’m going to look for a “free” server. kthxbye
Worst Case Scenario: This was the ultimatum that made me play on another server. A player comes up to me and harasses me with /kisses. I pretended I didn’t see him, and kept going. After about 30 seconds, I looked back to see him following me. I stopped not far from the inn in Goldshire, when we proposed his love to me. Fortunately, it wasn’t in a /yell.
Again, he spammed /kisses, scaring me into a /logout–in which he continued to harass me until I disappeared by standing on front of me as I was in the /sit motion… Get it? -_-
The Verdict: Hands down, Aerie Peak is the worse server in the game. After deleating my toon on Aerie Peak, I went to play Duskwood, which was much better. The players were more mature and willing to help out. My mistake of playing on Aerie Peak was that it was recommended by the game when I first made my character. Not only that, but it was also on the top of the list of populated realms. Hmm…Maybe Aerie Peak has a chance of being a realm with a minimum age requirement, if Blizzard is generous enough, lol.
After 22 levels on Duskwood with my Warrior, it was time to move on to better game–The Horde.
Realm: Stormreaver
I rerolled Horde after getting in touch with a buddy I met playing FFXI. At the time, I was an Undead Warrior, then later rerolled as a Undead Warlock–then a Blood Elf Warlock–after Burning Crusade was released. As an Undead Warrior, I already faced a couple of players by getting /laughed at for no reason at all. There’s more…
1) Trying to complete the quest, “The Vengeful Harbinger”, I was heckled at by a player. He said there were no Blood Elves allowed in the room, followed by a “j/k“. He did this a few times until it wasn’t funny anymore. He ended up on my ignore list soon after. I don’t know what his deal was…I was just trying to see if I could finish the quest without starting all over again. /sigh
2) The power hungry Horde players. ‘Nuff said
3) The grounded Alliance players, taking out their anger on the Horde. ‘Nuff said
Worst Case Scenario: The scenarios can be read here, here and here.
The Verdict: Stormreaver had it’s moments. When I started playing as Horde, I was invited into an awesome guild, which eventually moved to WildHammer–which is where I reside at the moment. There’s also some great players who stayed behind: one had real life problems and had to quit momentarily, and another had their toon on cooldown from a previous realm transfer.
Final Thoughts: Going back on my comment about the Swordsmen of Chaos on iRO in Part I: not all of them are bad. Perhaps Chaos was not a great server for this class. The same goes people who start out on Chaos: it depends on who the person is. I’m not saying the bad players have a better chance of getting into a guild with the same intentions as everyone else…good players can get around if they have a good immunity to stupidity. This can be counted for just about every server for just about every MMORPG around.
I would have given Aerie Peak another chance if the players weren’t so powerful, and Stormreaver just ran out of steam. Remora could have stood a chance if Square didn’t offer transfers from Asura. Now these realms, servers, and worlds are not playing on anymore, thanks to the obvious reactions whenever the slightest mistake is made. Right now, I find WildHammer to be the best realm I have ever played on. I did run into a few rude players, but fortunately they weren’t as serious as before. If something did happen, I corrected the problem by standing up to the player and refused to give in to his/her demands. Despite the Horde’s lingering performance on the Shadowburn battlegroup, I’m living large on WildHammer, and I hope I’ll stay here longer than I did on Stormreaver. Thanks for reading, and I hope you have better experiences on my old realms! ^_^
